Outcomes of VCI Consultations

Introduction
The development of a draft community indicators framework and strategy has been informed by extensive collaboration and consultation with Local Government, State Government departments and community organisations. This process has also included working closely with the VCI Project’s Steering and Reference groups, working with a group of ten partner councils, meeting with relevant experts, authorities and policy makers as well as conducting two rounds of consultation forums for local government and the community.

An important early step in the consultation process was the conduct of four local government forums held at Bendigo, Wangaratta, Hobson’s Bay and Box Hill in April and May, 2005. A report from these forums is included below as an attachment. A second round of five forums was held in September 2005. These forums were structured to receive feedback on a series of key questions about community indicator development and use in Victoria as well as a set of draft community indicators. This information was produced and disseminated widely as the discussion paper, Measuring Wellbeing: Engaging Communities. Written submissions were also received in response to this paper and a report that details and summarises the response to the discussion paper is included as an attachment below.
